Just came back from seeing Avatar in 3D. First time seeing 3D movie (other than iMax), and it's pretty awesome. The graphics are very pretty and shiny and awesome =D I can't believe they CGed all that, must've taken a lot of work... I love how fluid the motion of everything is, and how expressive the CGed characters' faces are, and how every character is unique-looking, even the extras.

The plot, I won't spoil it, but it reminds me of Pocahontas and Tarzan or Nausicaa XD It's got a good message, and a nice twist from usual alien-sci-fi scenarios. It also has these bi-pedal mechas that looks quite plausible =D

I love snow, just not driving in it, or having to dig the car out of it >__< Shovelling snow, I don't mind too much, as long as it's the fluffy kind and not the wet kind, or trying to shovel that pile left by the snowplow blocking the driveway...

I also like snow that's fresh, after a few days, it gets dirty, packed/icy (hard to walk on), or becomes slush X.x

After all, it doesn't feel like Christmas without snow =D

I dunno if it's emotionally challenging, but I just seem to have more and more apathy towards it. And the stupid annoying Christmas songs they play since November until you're sick of it!! And all the TV specials they show every year... I don't mean to sound like a scrooge, but I used to enjoy it until I'm just kinda tired of all this effort people put in to make it all special.. kinda like my view on Valentine's day, December has become a commercially saturated thing, so I just try to avoid it by not going near stores XD

I think when I was younger I was so excited because of the presents I'd get (haha yes materialistic as almost every other kid), but now I have my own money I don't really care as much anymore. If I don't get it as a present, I'll just buy it myself later *shrug* ... plus I think this year what I *really* want and wish for, money can't buy anyway, and my parents can't get it for me....

I do however, like the break from school/work so I can laze around and do nothing without feeling guilty XD

My roommate told me about this news story today: 70-car pile-up near Ottawa. When we first heard it, we're like, how does 70 cars pile up all at once?!?! So we went and looked for the pictures (look at the pictures on that news site), and some of the cars are hit pretty bad, others flipped over or went into the ditch... after reading the story though, I guess it's understandable; it's more like 2 separate pile-ups, and there was fog and ice during rush hour, so it's like a domino effect. Good thing nobody was seriously injured >__<

I should probably go shopping soon, but I don't want to drive... my parking lot is now all icy and gross-looking, even though the roads are clear.. DX I remember driving through snow last winter, and watching in fear as the pickup trucks in front of me swayed back and forth in the fresh snow X.x

One exam down. Wasn't too bad, though I wish I'd studied more (and spent more time on one section and less on another...) 'cause one of the questions was very similar to an assignment question (which I didn't get right the first time, so wish I read the solution closer) ^^;

Eva 2.0 is very shiny

I went and watched Evangelion 2.0 today (like 3 hours ago). I didn't really like Eva (esp towards the end), but the movie was actually pretty good. I didn't get to see Eva 1.0 (which I heard was compilation+some new parts), but 2.0 changed pretty much everything. A lot of new scenes are added, and plot elements are changed. And plot elements are made slightly clearer I think. But the biggest change I think is that Rei got more emotions and seems a lot more human. Asuka is also slightly nicer, and there's more interaction between her and Rei. It's also made more clearer that both of them like Shinji, and Shinji cares for both of them more.

Asuka is less emo, this one didn't go into her backstory much and have her angst about her mother too much. She's just always been alone, and did everything alone, and is used to being lonely. But being with Shinji and Misato and the others made her realize that being with others isn't so bad, that she doesn't want to be alone after all. I think I can relate to her very well >__< She's more.. open, I think, at least being able to admit that to herself.

Shinji is still emo and has the dad complex, but he's less emo in the movie, at least being able to open up somewhat to Asuka and Rei.

Also, new girl Mari is awesome in a kickass kind of way XD though her story (background etc) is still yet to be revealed. Though it's been so long since I've watched Eva that I don't really remember what's supposed to happen at this timeline XD

The biggest improvement though, is the animation quality. Picture quality is very HD and clean and shiny (including the CGed parts, which weren't that jarring), and animation is fluid and awesome. There are still disturbing scenes, but I found it interesting that they play cheerful happy music when those scenes happen...

I've created rose_designs for my graphics stuff, mostly gonna be wallpapers and whatever small number of icons I make XD

I have a question about the wallpapers though, I usually create 7 different resolutions for each wallpaper I make, I already have a (shared) site that I upload them to. So should I just link to my site to get other people to download the different resolutions, or re-upload them to LJ (photobucket resizes images that are too big)? 'cause I think some people don't like going to strange/new sites they've never been to XD and I don't want to just direct-link to the images I've uploaded to my site..

I've been watching G Gundam, and it is awesome, but in a "it's so terrible and weird that it's good" kind of way. Instead of about war and effects of war that Gundam is generally about, G Gundam is more like a shounen series, but with GUNDAMS!

Basically, the premise of the show is that countries on Earth have moved to colonies, and every 4 years, they send out a Gundam Fighter to represent them to fight in this Gundam fighting tournament, and the winner gets to rules space.. Yeah... And each Gundam (and their fighter) is pretty much the stereotype of their countries. For example, Neo Canada has the Lumber Gundam, I kinda like the toque (the hat thingy it's wearing), it matches the pilot(who is a lumberjack XD)'s toque, though I'm kinda sad it's not Beaver-shaped or Maple leaf-shaped XD

The Gundam universe is a serious take on humanity, and G Gundam, well... they take everything seriously, but for the viewer... it's kind of hard to, when you have such beasts like the Matador Gundam of Neo Spain or The Nether Gundam (aka Windmill Gundam) of Neo Holland, or the Ace of Clubs. It's hard not to laugh, but the fact that they do it all so seriously makes it even more fun XD

It's not supposed to be a silly show. There are themes of friendship, plenty of angst, and "the power of love and friendship!". And I watch it all in good humour, but I can understand why hardcore fans who take Gundam very seriously disowns this show....

Oh, and another un-Gundam thing, instead of traditionally piloting the Gundam with buttons and levers, the pilots pilot by punching and kicking, ie the Gundam is connected to the pilot such that whatever the pilot does, the Gundam does. I find it hilarious that Gundams come flying out of nowhere (or maybe hammer space...) when the pilots calls for it. And there's a transformation sequence (when Domon gets into the cockpit, and does all these poses, I call it transformation sequence XD)... Also, pilots don't put on pilot suits, they enter this thing where the suits are put on for them.. it's kinda disturbing that they're naked when they go into this thing, and the transformation sequence for Domon always has a shot of his butt being covered by this gel-like thing that turns into the pilot suit. It's kinda hard to explain... just watch the video:

It seems to take them time to get into the system, yet sometimes it takes them one second... and I find myself asking "how the heck did he get in there so fast?" It's best not to ask.. just like "where did the Gundam come from? Where was he hiding it??"

As for the characters, Domon is your "shounen hero" archetype, and fights with his hot-bloodedness, battle spirit, love, and anger. Oh, another thing that Gundam series don't tend to have, G Gundam has villains! which is why I think G Gundam is bordering on the "super-robot" genre rather than the "real-robot" that Gundams belong in. There's the obligatory masked character, Swartz aka "Stalker Swartz" as I call him, 'cause he seriously is a stalker!! He watches other pilots, Domon in particular, and randomly shows up (seriously, he teleports in and out.. best not to ask how he does it) and interrupts conversations and battles.

I think a lot of things in this show, it's best not to question the logics and watch it for fun.

Also, I've been working on a wallpaper using the cover of Feldt's VA CD, 'cause she looks so cute in that picture ^^ For the background, I was thinking of this scan that has a field of yellow flowers, some ruins of mecha, and the foreground is that flower in the glass cylinder thing Feldt gave to Setsuna... I can think of vaguely what the scan looks like, and I swore I had it, but I can't find it now!! ;___; Does anyone know (from that vague description >__< ) where the scan is from? I *think* it's from the Complete Best CD/DVDs, but I can't be sure.. help?

The reason I haven't posted in days or read any flist entries lately is because I've been spending the weekend pretty much sleeping and sitting on the couch vegging. I've caught whatever it is that's going around (or one of the things), and had to skip class (and gave up on one assignment, blame me for not starting it early enough)... X.x

I'm still coughing like mad (though it dies when I sleep at least), and my mouth always feels dry even though I drink like 3 liters of water a day... and get dizzy...

Had an interview yesterday morning after my 3-day hibernation, and my head was spinning while the guy talked.. and then he asked me these technical algorithm questions and I was just like "uh....... I ... don't know" while my brain refused to work X.x ........

I feel slightly less dizzy now. I'm not sure if I've slept too much or not enough... but I've got 3 midterms next week (though I'm not too worried about 2 of them) I hope I get well enough by them to write.... ;____;

\o/ Inuyasha the Final Act!!! Saw it!

Wow, I need to rewatch the first series XD This ep went right in and started where they left off (not counting the fillers).. and went quite fast, not wasting a moment to recap or anything. I vaguely remember stuff. At least I remember all the characters, though some of Naraku's newer spawns I forgotten their backstories XD I did read the manga after the anime ended a bit, but it's been years and I only remember vague things and certain chapters (I am looking forward to seeing some chapters getting animated, like Kagura's arc, Kikyou's arc, Sesshoumaru's arc )

I really want to draw Inuyasha group pic to celebrate, but can't seem to find time... or rather, the motivation... I need to do more school work, before I fail my midterms ;__; I haven't been paying attention in 2 of my classes, so I need to read notes and understand... ahhhhhhhh!!! But PSO is so tempting.... FOnewearl at level 78 now, 2 more levels until ultimate!!

Looking forward to Kobato! The latest FMA Brotherhood ep has rather disturbing images..... >__<

Gunpla building story!

Haha, Tari posted about her first Gunpla experience, and it made me remember mine XD

My first Gunpla isn't actually a Gundam. It was the 1/1700 Archangel, 'cause I love that ship to bits (mainly due to the crew, haha). I remember being soooo amazed at the details. The kit was pure white, ie, you had to paint everything. I didn't have any Gundam paint, and didn't want to use acrylic, so I left it unpainted for the longest time. I didn't have any Gundam-related stores near me, so I bought it online.

I didn't know anything about paneling, and yes, I used scissors (and some sandpaper) 'cause I didn't have the cutting tools. I actually used scissors for quite some time before I found the tools in a hobby store XD I also rushed it, 'cause I wanted to get it done, and it was so much fun. I love puzzles and building stuff (I've built those punch-out wood kits before). I actually broke part of the bridge, 'cause it's so tiny and delicate. I glued it back with wood glue, and it stayed, so shhhhhhhh XD

It's only later when I got Gundam markers that I painted the Archangel. I was pretty messy, and still didn't panel.... so as long as you look from a distance, you can't tell how bad it is, shhhh

My next kit was...... PG Skygrasper. Yes, I built a PG kit as my second XDD Why? Because I love the Skygrasper ~~cause of the pilot~~ and the PG is the only kit of it. That, and it came with little pilots. Yes, you could say I got the kit because it included a non-chibi figure of Mwu *is shot* The figure of Mwu was unpainted, and I spent painstaking hours painting it in acrylic XD It also came with another pilot (Cagalli), but I painted it to be Murrue *is shot*. The seats and cockpit are also unpainted, and I did that with acrylic... I wish I had better paints, 'cause the acrylic I used is not for painting on plastic and it kinda peels off ;___; I was still using scissors XD It took me a few days to do, 'cause I wanted to savour it, doing one part at a time. Even though it's a PG kit, I didn't find it that hard... maybe 'cause it's a plane and not a Gundam, and has waaay less parts XD

I got PG Strike later because I wanted it to go with PG Skygrasper. And I still haven't started it yet, I think I'm afraid to, it has so many parts!!

Next kit, my real first Gundam kit, is the HG Strike Dagger + Gunbarrel. I got it at Anime North, and got it because of the Gunbarrels (because I can't find Moebius Zero ;__; ) , which goes with HG Strike to make Gunbarrel Strike!!! (which appears in one game, piloted by Mwu, and is totally awesome!!)

I don't actually have that much Gunpla due to availability issues. I'd have to drive an hour to get to the nearest Gunpla store, and buying online = shipping fees X.x .. so I either have to wait for Anime North, or a chance to go to the Gunpla place.

Last fall, I went on a shopping spree at Gunpla store. I got SD Freedom, SD 00, Eternal (which is done but unpainted), 1/100 Dynames, 1/144 Dynames (lol, I found this one before finding the 1/100, it's still unopened, not sure if I should open it XD).

I only recently started paneling. Usually I'm waaaayyy too lazy to panel/paint, and am too eager putting the kit together (even though it's easier to panel/paint before assembling sometimes). The kit that I actually took the time to panel was HG Strike, which I need to do a photoshoot with sometime XD. Oh, I did paint/panel the SD Gundams, 'cause those came with too many white parts and look so bad without paint/panel XD And guess what I used to paint/panel, permanent marker XD

OMG NEW INUYASHA SERIES OCT 2009!!!!!!!!!

Hurray!!!! Inuyasha was like my first real anime obsession (well, there was Sailor Moon when I was 10, and Cardcaptor Sakura when I was 12... but this really lead me into Otaku-dom), and I'm so happy the rest of the series is getting animated after 5 years!!!

Also in the Fall lineup I need to see, is Kobato.

So my vacation ends... School starts on Monday.. I haven't touched my work term report which is due on the 22nd X.x ....

My computer told me today that it's running out of disk space... there was only 200MB left XD .. luckily, I had about 2GB in the recycle bin, so once I cleared that out, and some random stuff, including eps of anime I've already seen, I now have 2.7GB free X.x ...

Trying to figure out where the space went XD Is there a way to see how much space went where automatically without me having to go through folders? I have 14GB of anime (mostly G00 really), about 7GB of anime scans and misc dled pics, 14GB of music, 3.7GB of my art projects (note to self: copy that onto a disk!! in case computer dies), and 20GB of photos! (need to somehow get backup to that as well...)

I have 100GB total, where did the other 40GB go? XDD

I really need an external... and some way to back up data (lol, my folders are soooo messy)... DVDs too small, at 4.2GB each, it'll take at least 10 to back up the really important stuff.....

oh yeah, here's a question for whoever's interested: What colour is summer to you? I already have green for spring, and blue for winter. Not sure if I should go with red for summer (flowers, roses etc), or yellow (sun, sunflowers, daisies). I'd have orange + (red or yellow, depends on which is used for summer) for fall.

Paid my tuition for next term... there goes all my earnings from the summer (and even had to go into my savings) X.x .... The tuition itself is bad enough, but then they had to jack it up with a million fees... X.x

Wahhh where did all my money go?! I started this term with more money than I have now ;__; It all went into taxes, stupid rent (which my dad had paid up until this term ^^;; ), tuition, living expenses ~~and anime merchandise + DVDs + Anime North~~..... And the scholarship I got hasn't shown up on my account yet... so hopefully when it does I can get some money back.

And my dad wants me to pay rent again next term, but I has no income next term!! Dx I didn't want to do tutoring 'cause I needed time to do my own school stuff (and it'd only be enough for 1.5 month rent anyway).... although, maybe I should've signed up, 'cause courses next term isn't too bad, I hope. Only one course with project work, I think.

I'm not really looking forward to school, I probably forgot how to study XD And sad that I'm not gonna be earning money. But in a way, I'm kinda glad I'm going back, because I'm kind of sick of working, at least at this job with 0 time flexibility. I mean yeah I have lots of time after work, but waking up early and driving an hour (in total) every day is no fun.. and it's kinda boring at work.. and nobody to talk to (not that I have too many people to talk to at school either, but..).

They all say that when you're in school, you always wonder "when is it gonna end?!?" and when you're out of it you want to go back XD I haven't really thought about what to do after school.. right now, I'm just aiming for that goal of "graduation". But then what? Get a job, and? What if you don't like the job? Daaahhh too scary to think about >___<

Just 2 more days left, well, 1.6. Why is it only 10:30?!? I wanna go home and watch anime and play PSO and sleeeeeeeeep....... (Dahh caught up with Pandora Hearts just as it's getting good, and now have to wait.. meanwhile, will catch up on some other series)
